Purina Young Veterinarians launches mobile-friendly learning platform to enhance student vets’ skills
The Purina Young Veterinarian’s Platform blends learning with innovation for future-ready learners
Interactive digital course fills gaps in areas like nutrition, employability and entrepreneurship
Purina Young Veterinarians, an initiative dedicated to supporting the next generation of veterinary professionals, has been launched in Europe with a new digital edu-tainment platform.
The Purina Young Veterinarian’s Platform is an online hub of videos and interactive guides that bridge the gap between academia and real-world practice, with lessons created by leading industry experts and organised in much the same way streamers present content.
The platform also aims to address one of the most common questions from pet owners: “What should I feed my pet? Many vets say they feel unprepared to talk about nutrition after leaving university.
Whether it’s learning about entrepreneurship, or how to build a winning CV and mastering job interviews, the platform is packed with practical tips and insights young vets need to get started in their careers.
Rafael Lopez, Chief Executive Officer, Purina Petcare Europe, said: “When we spoke to young vets, they talked openly about gaps in their education when it came to real workplace skills and how that caught them by surprise when starting their careers. Particularly around the topic of pet nutrition, with pet owners giving it more attention than ever.
“Gaps like this are exactly what the Purina Young Veterinarian’s Platform has been designed to address. We see the care vets give to pets, and through Purina Young Veterinarians we’re continuing to uplift and empower the vets of tomorrow by making sure they feel cared for as they step into their careers.”
Designed for the on-the-go lifestyles of today’s students, the Purina Young Veterinarian’s Platform digital content hub is mobile friendly, so it can be accessed anytime, anywhere, fitting seamlessly with student lifestyle and allowing them to top up their skills wherever they are.
Lopez continued: “Veterinarians play a crucial, caring role in the health and well-being of our pets, which is why it’s important that young vets have access to the education and resources needed to develop into confident professionals ready to navigate the realities of the job.”
Features of the Purina Young Veterinarian’s Platform include:
- Curated Content Library: Topics including nutrition, business acumen and even accountancy for veterinarian business, have been organised into categories, providing a curated blend of new and existing training resources to support veterinary students as they prepare for the workforce. Many lessons are delivered direct by leading vets from across the world.
- Interactive content: Specially created lessons include interactive simulations of real-world scenarios, giving a truly immersive experience.
- Seamless User Experience: Designed with young vets in mind, the mobile-first design ensures effortless navigation and accessibility across all devices, so students can access resources anytime, anywhere.
By rethinking traditional learning models, Purina has developed a platform that can become an essential companion for young vet health care professionals, bridging the gap between university education and real-world practice, and ultimately, boosting employability skills. It aims to inspire, educate, and engage veterinary students at every step of their academic journey.
Content on the Purina Young Veterinarian’s Platform has been curated by the Purina Institute, with select courses CPD-accredited (Continuing Professional Development), to support professional standards and enhance the employability of veterinary students.
Driven by a passion for supporting veterinary students, Purina Young Veterinarians reflects Nestlé’s global commitment to youth development by empowering thousands of students with helpful tips, advice, and practical support to launch their careers. The programme is an extension of the work carried out by Nestlé to support student vets in Turkey and Ukraine, with several students praising its positive impact on their development.
To keep the platform dynamic and fresh, new resources and content will be continuously added. Purina is also collaborating with FVE and IVSA, who will play a key role in shaping the programme moving forward.
